Ya vs. Yeah

I know I have absolutely no room to complain about things like this, because I have more than my share of grammatical, speech, writing, and typing errors. But this one really drives me insane: Y-a versus y-e-a-h. 

Ya is a variation of the word you. It is not variations of the words yes or yay. Examples: I love ya, see ya later, I told ya, etc. 

Yeah is a variation of the word yes. It is not variations of the words you or yay. Examples: Yeah I like the color pink, yeah I would love to hang out, yeah I will be there tomorrow, etc. 

I actually read a post today that said, "Ya it was me...I'll call ya later."

C'mon...
