hole in wall

The hole is in the wall. Yay for accomplishments. It was an adventure though. I texted my husband around noon on Friday to see how it was going and his response was, "We cut and knocked out the drywall on the kitchen side. And then we found the heat exhaust."

Drats.

So then they had to spend the whole day Friday cutting off the big pipe that ran vertical with the walls, up into the attic and then through the roof. Apparently, you can't even route it that way anymore, because not knowing where those are had can be dangerous. I mean, if you don't know where yours runs at and you decide to hang a picture or shelf or whatever where it's at… then you puncture it and leak carbon monoxide into your house. We had hung a shelf very near it too. Less than an inch away from nicking it. Whew.

It go rerouted from where the heater is at in the basement, through the basement ceiling and out the side of the house near the a/c unit.

On Saturday we ran into more problems when trying to run the wire for the little can/hanging lights that are going in on top of the bar. It took forever. Finally at the end of the day we had it all framed out, sheetrocked, and the the first round of mudding on.

This morning we got up and sanded it down and added the second layer of mud to it. We put it on pretty thick so it still hasn't dried. Hopefully we'll just have to sand it one more time tomorrow and then it'll be ready for painting!

We went and ordered the countertop piece today too. We found the exact countertops that in the rest of the kitchen, so I'm excited that it'll all be uniform.

We purchased our paint to, maybe I can get the baseboards painted this week so that they can set for a few days before I tape them off to paint the walls next week!

Gettin' there! Slowly, but surely. Now, just to get a contractor in for the floors and get a date scheduled for all of that!
